WHATEVER, Pt. 7—Whatever is Excellent

At the beginning of creation, God built the universe by speaking it into existence (Gen. 1:1; Heb. 11:3). Before sin, the universe was ideal with no death, deterioration, or dysfunction (Gen. 1:31; 2:16, 17). God always does things with excellence to the best of His ability—which also happens to be perfect! Excellence is the highest and best of something. God not only built the world with excellence but also acts in the world with excellence. This means that God always acts in accordance with His character—which is also perfect! The virtue of God always chooses the highest and best in a given situation because of His internal character. God both creates and interacts with excellence, because He is excellence!
