#16 Jessica Velazquez’s Story: Not Waiting Till Everything Is Perfect And Being Courageous Enough To Make Mistakes

Jessica is from the small country of Panama located in Central America. She comes from a very diverse background. Jessica moved to Canada to continue her passion of Interior Design schooling. She has been married to her husband for 30 years and has 5 children. They have lived in three different countries as a family, Canada, the US, and Panama. 

Highlights for Jessica’s Story: 

• Challenges of moving to Canada when she was a young adult.
• Lessons she learned from coming to Canada: Is that in Canada there is a lot of diversity and there is an opportunity to make it regardless of your background. Anyone can get ahead, which was different from the world she grew up in. 
• Dealing with assumptions and racism.

• Relationship with parents. Advice from her father: Whatever you choose to do, do your best! 
• Learning to believe in yourself even when things don't work out. 
• Learning through mistakes. 
• Family life: Learning to let her kids make their own mistakes but loving them regardless.

• Overthinking and perfectionism.
• Growing as an entrepreneur and dealing with the fear of judgment, imposter syndrome, and social media!
