On a late-night broadcast of Coast to Coast AM, Art Bell introduced a chilling tape. What spilled from the speakers was a nightmarish roar of countless human screams – the infamous “Sounds from Hell.” The recording, Bell explained, was said to come from a Soviet drilling project in Siberia during the 1980s, where geologists allegedly bored nine miles into the earth. According to legend, their instruments registered impossible heat, and when a microphone was lowered into the shaft, it captured the agonized cries of tortured souls.
