Nurture: It Takes a Village - Podcast

Nurture: It Takes a Village

This podcast explores the life stories of regional and rural women over the generations. We compare the experiences of Doll and Pip, two women making a home on remote NSW stations - one in the 1950s and one today. We meet Jean, a country journalist and Northern Territory explorer reflecting on her 90-plus year life journey. Then there's librarian Carole, a stalwart of local libraries and an example of blending work and family over decades. Next is Uta, who reflects on the intersection of army life, working motherhood and working for regional communities. Each woman's story explores how they have cultivated a village, a tribe, to support them and how this has empowered them to feel included rather than alone.

The podcast is part of the "Nurture: It takes a Village" exhibition at the Albury LibraryMuseum. Interviews and podcast production by A Lasting Tale, www.alastingtale.com. All interviews form part of the AlburyCity Oral History Collection.
