Folks that listen to this show know that I graduated from Maryville High School, one of the best high school football programs in the country over the past 20+ years. So I really wanted to have the head coach on the podcast. 

His name is Derek Hunt, and we have known each other for a long time. One of Derek’s best friends growing up is my brother-in-law. So we do dive deep into the football season for the Rebels, but I also ask him about a story I heard from when he was in the 7th grade. 

You might think you know coach Hunt…but this might give you even more insight into what kind of a dude he is. 

My family moved to Maryville in 1997 and since then, Maryville has won 14 state championships. So, we talk about what it’s like to coach with that kind of pressure to be the best…we talk about reloading on a team that just lost 17 starters…and we even play a fun speed round – basically giving out some superlatives to current players.
