Notorious Gangs of Victorian England: Wicked Wednesdays
Todays episode of Wicked Wednesdays looks at Notorious gangs in Victorian England specifically in Birmingham, London, and Manchester.
 
The Peaky Blinders were a real-life criminal gang that operated in Birmingham, England, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The name ""Peaky Blinders"" is believed to have originated from the distinctive peaked caps (flat caps) that the gang members wore, with razor blades into the brims to be used as weapons during fights.

The all women 40 elephants’ gang were a notorious all-female criminal gang that operated in London. The gang was renowned for their sophisticated and organized activities such as wholescale theft, blackmail, robbery and more, making them one of the most infamous female-led crime groups of their time.

Our last story looks at the many Manchester gangs, with children as young as 10, and specifically the violent Deansgate gang.
