The Great Taking: a review

This book by David Rogers Webb is an account of his experiences in the financial sector and an analysis of the maneuvers that, according to the author, the powers that be have been guilty of in order to take control of the global financial system. Webb argues that the process of dematerialization of securities, the invention of entitlement law and the expansion of collateral management operations have led to the concentration of power in the hands of a few, who are about to carry out a great grab, with which they could confiscate the property of all. The author provides evidence to support his theory, citing official documents, meetings with influential figures and references to historical events such as the global financial crisis of 2008. Webb argues that the global financial system is heading for a collapse and that the response of the powers that be will not be to help the people, but to consolidate their power and exploit the situation to their advantage.
