God wants to lead you to a better place than where you are today.

Jeremiah 29:11 I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you to give you a future and a hope.1 Corinthians 2:9 Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.Love = actively doing what the Lord prefers

God wants to lead you to a better place than where you are today.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him.Acknowledge = follow hard after GodAnd He shall direct your paths.Deuteronomy 30:19 I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.Matthew 7:13-14 Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.Destruction = a complete loss of anything and everything that is desirable; forever.

The shortcut is a sabotage.

1. An Appetite ShortcutMatthew 4:2-3 For forty days and forty nights he fasted and became very hungry, during that time the devil came and said to him if you are the son of God tell these stones to become loaves of bread. "It will prove you are the Son of God," he said.

Does the truth of God's Word bow to your appetites or do your appetites bow to the truth of God's Word?

Matthew 4:4 But Jesus told him, "No! For the Scriptures tell us that bread won't feed men's souls: obedience to every word of God is what we need."2. An Approval Shortcut
Matthew 4:5 Then Satan took him to Jerusalem to the roof of the Temple. 6 "Jump off," he said, "and prove you are the Son of God; for the Scriptures declare, 'God will send His angels to keep you from harm,'... they will prevent you from smashing on the rocks below." 7 Jesus retorted, "It also says not to put the Lord your God to a foolish test!"

Jesus knew He already had the approval of the one that really mattered.

Because Jesus understood that He already had God's approval, He didn't chase after the approval of man.

Where you look for approval is where you give your allegiance.

3. A Timing ShortcutMatthew 4:8 Next Satan took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him the nations of the world and all their glory. 9 "I'll give it all to you," he said, "if you will only kneel and worship me." 10 "Get out of here Satan," Jesus told him. "The Scriptures say, 'Worship only the Lord God. Obey .only him.'"

God's will outside of His timing is no longer His will.

Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, and a light on my path.Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.
