The tender and merciful heart of God is revealed right from the start of the amazing poem comprising Isaiah chapters 40-55. Here, Paul introduces this great sweeping section of Isaiah, that represents a poetic "Bible in miniature", describing human rebellion and the loving heart-response of God via his mysterious "Suffering Servant", culminating in a "new creation" in which God will dwell forever with redeemed humanity.
