A teaser trailer has been released for the long-awaited sequel, Spinal Tap II, confirming the return of the original creative team. Rob Reiner is back to direct and star as filmmaker Marty DiBergi, alongside the iconic band members: Michael McKean (David St. Hubbins), Christopher Guest (Nigel Tufnel), and Harry Shearer (Derek Smalls).
The plot is set in motion after the death of the band's manager, Ian Faith. His widow, played by Fran Drescher, informs the estranged bandmates that they are contractually obligated to reunite for one last show.
The trailer showcases the classic mockumentary style of the original and is filled with talking-head interviews from real-life music legends, including Paul McCartney, Elton John, Questlove, and Garth Brooks. It also promises to continue the band's legacy of absurdity with a new joke that updates a classic: their amps now go up to 12.
The film is scheduled for a 2025 release.
