Light Cycles Hit the Real World in Trailer for TRON: ARES

Disney has released the first teaser trailer for TRON: Ares, the long-awaited third film in the franchise. The trailer introduces Jared Leto as Ares, described as a "highly sophisticated Program" who journeys from the digital world (The Grid) into the human world. This premise is a reversal of the previous films where humans entered the digital realm.

The teaser establishes Ares as the embodiment of AI making "first contact" with humanity, sent on a dangerous mission to change the world. It showcases glimpses of the iconic TRON aesthetic – glowing suits (Ares wears red), light cycles (briefly), and identity discs – but integrates them into a real-world setting. We see Ares interacting with humans, including a character played by Greta Lee, and hints of action sequences.

The film is directed by Joachim Rønning and features a cast including Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson. While visually distinct and maintaining the TRON look, the teaser focuses on setting up the core conflict of an AI entity emerging into our reality.

TRON: Ares is scheduled for release on October 10, 2025.
