I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER Sequel Trailer Sees Original Stars, The Fisherman Return

A sequel to the 1997 slasher film I Know What You Did Last Summer is reportedly in development at Sony Pictures. Original stars Jennifer Love Hewitt (Julie James) and Freddie Prinze Jr. (Ray Bronson) are said to be in talks to reprise their roles.

The project was pitched by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (director of Do Revenge), who is attached to direct. Leah McKendrick is set to write the screenplay, and Neal H. Moritz, a producer on the original film, is also involved.

The approach is described as being inspired by recent successful "legacy sequels" like Scream, suggesting the film will likely blend the returning original cast with a new generation of characters. The article notes that the other two original main characters, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe, died in the first film.

It's important to note that the project is currently only in development and has not yet been officially greenlit or confirmed for production by Sony.
