In this episode of "Navigate The Day," we explore the power of our emotions and the importance of questioning whether they truly make sense. As I reflect on the journal prompt, I realize that I tend to rationalize any emotion, but it's essential to consider whether they are serving a purpose in the given situation. For example, anger can be useful as a warning sign that something isn't sitting right with me, and fear rarely makes sense since it doesn't change the likelihood of the fear becoming reality.
I have noticed that I have a duality in my mindsets where I can be quite logical and structured, but also give in to my stronger emotions quickly. However, I've realized that many of the things that upset me are a product of my own untamed thoughts. If I can separate myself from the stories I tell myself, I can see them as simple stories that hold no grip or position in reality.
By questioning the sense of our emotions, we can determine which signals we need to pay attention to and which ones are nonsense causing us to suffer at our own hand. I'm going to keep this prompt at the ready to remind myself to question whether the emotions I am feeling in that moment make sense or not. Let's wake up and see that what's there is just like those bad dreams, and we have the power to navigate our day with intention and clarity.
