In this episode of "Navigate the Day," we explore the idea that circumstances have no care for our feelings. As Marcus Aurelius wrote, we should not give circumstances the power to rouse anger because they don't care at all. It's a journal prompt that asks why we get angry with things if anger doesn't change them.
We often label situations in our lives as unfair or bad, but circumstances are neutral forces. The only time a circumstance becomes good or bad is when we decide it to be so. We can choose to let our emotions win or we can take our lives into our own hands.
It's important to remember that this work on our inner and emotional framework never ends, and it's pointless to stress over a lack of progress. We should not let external events that we can't control ruin our lives. It's silly to act as if circumstances intend to harm us when they're not sentient beings.
In the episode, I share a personal experience of forgetting my watch and earbuds, which meant my work day was going to be pretty dull. At first, I was irritated, but I decided not to get mad about it. Getting agitated and letting it affect me wasn't going to change the fact that I forgot my items. Instead, I accepted my circumstances and went on with my day. It's a small step forward for me, but it's a great one.
Life doesn't care about our feelings because it doesn't have any. It's up to us to choose how we react to our circumstances. We can let anger hold us back, or we can turn it into positive, productive action.
Thank you for listening and joining me on my journey of self-discovery!
