Uncle Colin Clarke - a Barkindji- Ngyimpaa man, passionate about common sense, listening to the right people and the work he does, Brother to Brother with Dardi Munwarra.
Dardi Munwurro (Strong Spirit) is a specialist Aboriginal family violence service with a vision is to build stronger families and safer communities.
Dardi Munwarra aims to empower and inspire individuals to heal the past, acknowledge the present and create a positive vision for the future.
This is Uncle Col’s passion - bringing lived experience to his role to make a difference.
This was the first time I’d met Uncle Col after chatting with his family and them suggesting I talk to him as he works in the justice and prison system.
Now it took Uncle Col a little bit to warm up, but by the end he was telling me stories from Warrakoo, from his time picking grapes, driving sheep at 16, ghost stories and having a good old yarn.
But that’s an important part of building trust right?
Going wherever the conversation takes you, so down the track when you need honest answers, you know you can trust you have someone who should be listened to, to give you the answers you seek, not the answers supplied in talking points from an agency who's measured on service delivery rather than KPI's.
We acknowledge the land on which this podcast was recorded and we pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
