2023 May 31 - Simulation: A Galaxy Disk Forms

In today's image, we see a simulation showing the formation of a galaxy disk over billions of years compressed down into about 2 minutes. Galaxy evolution takes such a long time that there is no way we can see a galaxy evolve and change except through models and simulations such as the one used today.
