2022 November 18 - The Protostar Within L1527

In today's image, we see an image from the James Webb Space Telescope looking at the dark nebula L1527. Within the central dust disk between the two lobes is a protostar that is in the process of formation. It will become a star when the core temperature reaches the ten million degrees needed to be able to fuse hydrogen into helium.
