In today's image, we see the Lobster Nebula known for producing some of the most massive stars possible. The theoretical limit under current models is about 100 times the mass of our Sun. Stars larger than this would be unstable and would expel their outer layers to reduce their mass. Why this specific nebula produces such massive stars is a current topic of research.
