Dasakam 017 - Sloka 02

अङ्के पितु: सुरुचिपुत्रकमुत्तमं तं दृष्ट्वा ध्रुव: किल सुनीतिसुतोऽधिरोक्ष्यन् ।

आचिक्षिपे किल शिशु: सुतरां सुरुच्या दुस्सन्त्यजा खलु भवद्विमुखैरसूया ॥२॥

Aṅke pituḥ suruciputrakamutthamaṁ taṁ

Dṛṣṭvā dhruvaḥ kila sunītisuto'dhiroḳṣyan ।

Ācikṣipe kila śiśuḥ sutarāṁ surucyā

Dussantyajā khalu bhavadvimukhairasūyā ॥2॥

அங்கே பிது: ஸுருசிபுத்ரகமுத்தமம் தம்

த்ருஷ்ட்வா த்ருவ: கில ஸுநீதிஸுதோ'தhiroக்ஷ்யன் ।

ஆசிக்ஷிபே கில ஶிசு: ஸுதராம் ஸுருச்யா

துஸ்:ஸந்த்யஜா க²லு ப³வத்³விமுகைரஸூயா ॥2॥

अङ्के पितु:on (his) father's lapसुरुचि-पुत्रकम्-उत्तमं तंSuruchi's son, that Uttama,दृष्ट्वा ध्रुव: किलseeing Dhruva indeedसुनीति-सुत:-अधिरोक्ष्यन्the son of Suneeti (who was) about to get up,आचिक्षिपे किल शिशु:the child was severely scoldedसुतरां सुरुच्याas a result by Suruchiदुस्सन्त्यजा खलुindeed (jealousy) cannot be given upभवत्-विमुखै:-by those who are not devoted to Theeअसूयाjealousy

Seeing Uttama, Suruchi's son, seated on his father's lap, Suneeti's son Dhruva also tried to get up. But as a result, the child was severely scolded by Suruchi. Indeed, jealousy cannot be given up, by those who are not devoted to Thee.
