Our focus must be developing Christ in our lives. Human nature is such that we demand glory without the cost of discipleship! Yet, God demands self-denial and taking up our cross to follow Jesus. These concepts are diametrically opposed to our carnal nature. There are no shortcuts, even though iniquitous methods pretend to offer them. Our Lord had to learn obedience before gaining glory. So, as we “seek for glory, honor, and immortality,” our example must be Jesus, “the author and finisher of our faith, who, for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2)
