God has shown us mercy none of us deserved. He desires that we develop maturity to show mercy to those we meet. If God were to judge us for the evils we have done, we would all have been dead long ago.

Most of us overlook the twofold reason for the first coming of Jesus: "Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father" (Galatians 1:4-5).
