S3-126 PREPARING FOR A TIME OF TROUBLE

Brother Singh sees a famine for the word of God in modern Christianity. An ancient scripture is applicable for our day: "Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD" (Amos 8:11). So, today, everybody can goggle and quote scripture—yet precious few receive the word of God!

The convenience of the modern study of scripture via computers, concordances, and commentaries presents two significant problems: 1) Uncalled ministers add themselves to the work of God. 2) There is little need to seek God diligently in prayer. (Hence carnal thinking and emotionalism masquerade as leading by the Holy Spirit.)
