In religion, it is easy to fall into the trap of using platitudes. A platitude is a phrase or statement, especially one with moral content, used too often to be thoughtful or meaningful. One platitude we use in our fellowship is the "Body of Christ." It echoes the banality of a phrase used by the Jews in ancient Israel, "The Temple of the Lord." God's Prophet warned, "Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these." (Jeremiah 7:4)
