#571 NOT ENVIOUS OF THE WICKED

A false impression exists that serving God is easy—that we experience a perpetual mountaintop experience of joy. That is not so! Christians are emotional beings, subject to the full range of human feelings. Anger, fear, sadness, and jealousy enter our lives as much as peace, joy, and hope. Thus, understanding how our emotions affect our Christian experience is essential. With understanding, we can develop the tools necessary to "do all things without murmurings and disputings. That is, "we may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, living amid a crooked and perverse nation, among whom we are to shine as lights in the world." (Philippians 2:14-15).
