In horticulture, pruning is the removal or reduction of parts of a tree or vine that are not requisite to growth or production. The bible calls spiritual pruning, "purging. " "Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit."
