Remakes are an interesting and unfortunate part of a problematic subset of movies that have to justify their existence while somehow honoring the original film. This week's film certainly tries hard to atone for its original sins while devoting too much effort to being evocative of the original that it's trying to replace.
West Side Story is rated PG-13 and was released on November 29, 2021.
The movie stars Angel Elgort as Tony, Rachel Ziegler as Maria, Ariana DeBose as Anita, David Alvarez as Bernardo, and Rita Moreno as Valentina.
