Welcome to My Country Too! It's been a steep learning curve to get to this point, but I'm excited to share the first episode with you. It's an introduction to the show's format and host (me). The audio quality and editing might still be a bit shaky, but I hope you'll look (listen?) past that and trust that I'll get the hang of it over time.
The podcast title comes from a Dan Bern song, My Country II, written during Bush 2's re-election campaign. I'm not a good capitalist or a Christian or a Republican. But this is my country, too, dammit, and I'm not giving it up without a fight. You get to hear the whole song at the end of this episode, but you should check out Dan's website to see his art and hear more of his music.
In this episode, you get to know a little about me and my politics. I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with a view of salt water. I'm married and have a kid about to start college. I'm over-educated and I have a cat. I work in the non-profit world. I'm in the far-bottom-left corner of the political compass. If you want to see what that means and place yourself on the compass, go take the quiz!
