Old dogs pee a lot (just like old humans) and they don't care when or where they do it....at least mine doesn't. 

Old cars leak a lot, but you might never know it if you aren't "alert" to the smells and sounds your car can make that indicate that something bad (and expensive) is going to happen...and soon.
