The following is a rough estimate of how I might make chili on a given day…







Gather up the stuff:









* 1 ½ lbs good quality ground beef







* 1 ½ lbs good quality pork sausage







* 2 green bell peppers







* 1 yellow bell pepper







* 1 large jalapeno pepper







* 1 large yellow onion







* 4 celery ribs







* 1 large garlic bulb







* 1 TBSP Cracked black pepper







* 2 TBSP Salt







* 3 TBSP Cumin







* 3 TBSP Chili powder







* 6 bay leaves







* TBSP dried or fresh basil







* 30 oz can diced tomatoes







* 46 oz can tomato juice (might not need it all. See how it looks)







* 15 oz can black beans







* 15 oz can garbanzo beans (Chickpeas are the same thing)







* 12 oz bottle ice cold beer







* Optionally; sour cream, fresh cilantro, and shredded cheddar for toppings









Directions:*







Crack that beer and take a pull. You’re about to embark on a cathartic journey that will feed your soul as well as your body. 







Get out your biggest pot. You’re making a lot of chili today Samuel. I know you have a big cutting board.Get that out too. You’ve got some chopping to do. (If you want to use that food processor go ahead, but leave some of the vegetables out so you have some chunks for texture and aestheti...
