When you’re a primary caregiver, it can be very hard to break through the collective societal energy of the expectation of the “mother”.
We feel immense guilt if we aren’t constantly supporting and caring for our children. These unrealistic expectations are not always in alignment with who we are. Communicating boundaries is extremely important to our livelihood.
Dana discusses a technique she uses with her five children to include her kids in meeting her own needs. We don’t need to feel held back by our family dynamic.

If going to the grocery store by yourself is your only you-time, communicating your needs on a deeper level to receive more help in your life to strike a balance might be necessary. We want to be seen, heard and understood, just like our kids want to, as well!
