On today’s episode, I had the chance to interview one of my life long friends, Nicole Settimi. Nicole suffered serious brain trauma when she was only four years old and has since had a long history of various physical issues in her body. As a result of her past trauma, her passion for health and wellness - and feeling good, runs deep. I love Nicole’s drive and passion to continue growing her knowledge about every aspect of the human body and how it’s all connected and functions as one. She is extremely well educated on the function of the human body and how to heal it, so if you’re interested in learning about a more holistic approach to feeling good, this episode is for you! On this episode we dive into: Nicole’s education background and where her love for studying the human body and it’s optimal state of functioning comes from. Where most of our nervous system lies in our body, and how this has a direct effect on the function of our nervous system as a whole. How a holistic approach helped to save her from several years of suffering following her traumatic brain injury. How the food we ingest and the nature of our thoughts either increase or decrease our inflammatory symptoms. An explanation of the visceral-somatic connection and how different parts of your organs are connected from an energetic perspective (**We end up storing unresolved emotions or trauma in our bodies and this can sit in our tissues. This is where we end up seeing disease start.)What the practice of Osteopathy looks like during treatment and how they use an intuitive approach to treating dysfunction in the body. What we can do on our own to see if there is dysfunction happening in our bodies; and more specifically in our organs.Because the body is one unit, it’s important that when starting on a path to treat disease, your practitioner understands that it’s important to start by treating the dysfunction in the body - not the disease itself; this is how you get a permanent shift. How crystals work to shift our energy on a cellular level. The take-home: A positivity movement isn’t necessarily what we need, we just need people to practice more forms of self-care. There is no point in suffering because pain changes the brain. The more curious we are about what's happening in our bodies, the less we fear, and the more willing and able we are to jump into something that feels right. Fear cannot exist when curiosity does, so be an intuitive human being and cherish your gut instincts. If you go easy in life, life will go easy on you.
