Today, our guest is Dr. Amber James, Assistant Professor of Music at Southern Wesleyan University. She specializes in voice and graduated from the University of Georgia with a master of music degree in vocal performance, subsequently earning her doctor of musical arts degree in vocal performance and pedagogy from the University of Southern Mississippi.
As a sought out voice and piano teacher in various parts of the country, James maintains a part-time studio in New York City in addition to her teaching duties here in South Carolina. She has performed operatic roles in New York, Mississippi, and Italy and was awarded a young artist scholarship for the International Performing Arts Institute located in Germany.
Prior to this year, Dr. James has directed and conducted the musicals Kismet, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Grease, and Newsboys. This year, she will be overseeing a new and titanic undertaking, directing the musical Titanic.
