This week in "the Huddle" we welcome special guest and newly elected club president Emma Areta as we feature the Central West Giants from the Gridiron NSW competition. Emma talks through the history of the club, the adversity faced by all teams during the pandemic and the Giants commitment to establishing themselves as an powerhouse side in the state.
For the upcoming season, Emma talks about how the Women's team will be representing the club with the open men's and colts sides not fielding teams in 2022. Emma also praises the coaching staff for the Giants with 7 staff members working to help improve the program, develop individual players as well provide a stronger focus on both sides of the ball. Emma offers her vision for the Giants moving forward as well as the strategic planning that has been undertaken to ensure the club's long term success.
Reflecting on the first week of pre-season, Emma also provides an insight into some new faces in and around the team and the potential of the side for 2022. With a host of new players, the Giants feature a host of dynamic skill players and are continuing their recruitment drive prior to the start of the regular season (August 13). If you're a local athlete that would like to join the Giants, reach out to Emma to begin your own gridiron journey.
And to round out the show in "Rapid Fire" we offer our way too early NSW Opal Bowl Championship predictions. Which NSW side will take the win?
