I met these two amazing men downtown on Saturday, the night of the peaceful protest in Grand Rapids, MI. They were some of the voices in the episode “The Voices of Many” and their messages were powerful and based from a value of Love & Compassion.
Derrick is an epidemiologist for Ottawa county and Carlson is a Scrum Master in the Information Technology department at Meijer. We have a unique perspective growing up with an outside view of America but now living the reality of being a black immigrant male in America.
We start by discussing some of the very real things that are happening to our brothers and sisters of color and we begin by opening the door to recognizing our knee jerk reactions and how best to take a pause before acting from a place of anger and fear, and how together we can begin to come from a place of Love & Understanding Together.
Join us as we dive into how to go about having these difficult conversations that can shine the light on how to move us forward in a direction of Love & Belonging for us all.
No doubt in my head and in my heart that I was let to these two for a reason. We hope to show you how we can carry the right messages forward and also an example of how to having these hard conversations. They give us a way in how we can move into action for those that know it’s time to go to work.
