No Surprise

What is the difference between a surprise and a shock? Are surprises still exciting as you get older? Or do you associate surprises with something horrible? Good, bad or indifferent surprises are something we think we look forward to and actually don't really enjoy. Perhaps we just enjoy watching others receive them, from a safe distance.
