There is something magical about the once completely walled in city of San Juan. It was an important port for trade as a stop over from the long journey from Europe. The Spaniards came and took over this island but had to refortify their walls several times after the Dutch, once, and the British, twice, came into burn the town down. Today as a territory of the United States, there are places tended to such as the national landmarks Castillo San Cristobal and Castilla San Felipe del Morro. The city is small compared to the size of the island, but remarkable and photographic with it's brightly colored buildings.
