Emotional eating is something that many of us struggle with often. There is a comfort aspect to food that originates when we are babies and often continues throughout life.
We also might struggle to recognize, validate or feel our emotions - and turn to things like food to provide the comfort, protection or distraction that we want.
We might use food to cope with stress or turn to binge eating to try to cover up other things that we don't want to face.
Dr. Nina Savelle-Rocklin joins me on this episode to share why these things happen. Where does the link between food and emotions come from and what can we do to change our patterns?
Whether you've dealt with binge eating - or you simply know that sometimes food is your comfort mechanism - this episode will give you some tools to create a healthier relationship with food. Dr. Nina talks us through her VARY method - Validate, Acknowledge, Reassure Yourself.
This episode ends on such a powerful note - make sure to listen to the end!
