Our world is rife with political rhetoric and arguments over both the facts of a situation and the solutions.  If we know that minimizing stress is a significant part of living healthy, how do we manage our stress while being informed politically?  How do we keep our blood pressures low and avoid sticking our heads in the sand about major issues in the world?

My guest today is Laura Vaught, who leads the Federal Affairs office for a major energy company and has had many years of experience on Capitol Hill as well.  I'm asking Laura how we can be informed, take an interest... and not drive ourselves nuts.

We talk about:

  • the idea of taking breaks from all the news sometimes,
  • having a group to act as a sounding board,
  • starting with issues at the local level, and
  • even just changing the subject when things get tense.

This episode does not take sides on any political issue (we're a safe space!), and does provide you with some ideas for how to navigate the next year or more during turbulent political times.
