Education Through Music and Providing Eye Care For Those Who Need it

Nov. 3, 2024 ~ The Motor City Lyric Opera is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring and educating students and
families in the metro Detroit area through highly artistic musical presentations. Founder and Artistic Director Mary Callaghan Lynch said through colorful, captivating, and values-focused programs, the organization strives to inspire and elevate the
hearts and minds of Detroit. To date, MCLO has performed before thousands of school children and seniors free of charge.

More than 3 million public school children across the country lack the glasses they need. Vision To Learn has provided more 100,000 children with eye care and 30,000 with glasses in Michigan. Wayne County will provide an investment of $1.8 million to help Vision To Learn serve an additional 10,000 students. The director of Wayne County Health, Human, and Veterans Services Mohamad El Sayad joins Michigan Voices to talk about providing this service to thousands of students in the county.
