US markets closed for Independence Day, volumes will be thin when trading resumes tonight. Politics have dominated recent headlines, EU markets behaving as the UK election wraps up (French second round election on Sunday). Labour Party leader Keir Starmer is set to become new PM as expected with a big majority. Exit polls show the Labour party winning 410 of the 650 seats in the House of Commons. This was expected and equities had a positive rally. FTSE up 0.9%, DAX up 0.4% and CAC up 0.8%. The FTSE has been stuck in a sideways trading range since the start of May.
