Being serious for just a moment, Melrose Place took their perch in pop culture to lecture and speak to the American public about how damaging Don't Ask, Don't Tell was for individual people.  At a time when the policy was seen as a break through moment of progress, Melrose Place was there to show case the sincere challenges this created in our society.
