Matthew 18:21-22
Then Peter approached him and asked, “Lord, how many times must I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? As many as seven times?” “I tell you, not as many as seven,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven.”
"To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.
Forgiveness is:
Giving up the right to get even
Acceptance
Forbearing
Forgiveness is not:
Letting someone off the hook.
Restoration of trust…trust is re-earned and re-built over time.
Automatic reconciliation.
Forgetting the offense.
A feeling…we can’t wait till we feel like it.
A response to an apology. We forgive because we have been forgiven. You may never get an apology.
