The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 524.63 points, or 1.35%, to close at 38,272.75 in its worst session since March 2023 on a percentage basis. At its lows, the 30-stock index sunk 757.52 points, or 1.95%. The S&P 500 slid 1.37% to close at 4,953.17, while the Nasdaq Composite fell 1.8% to settle at 15,655.60.

ASX to fall. SPI Futures down 90 points (-1.19%). 

  • Base metals mixed, Copper flat, Nickel +1.31%, Aluminium -0.34%, Zinc -0.69%, Lead -1.28%, and Tin +1.57%.
  • Gold down 1.35% falling below the key $2,000 per ounce level hitting a two-month low.
  • Oil prices rose overnight as geopolitical tensions continued in the Middle East and western Europe, WTI +1.22% and Brent Crude +0.60%.
  • Aussie dollar down 1.18% to 64.52US cents and USD Index +0.68 % at 104.88.
  • 10Y Bond Yields – US 4.322%, Australia 4.294%, and Germany 2.403%.
