Sometimes the questions sting.
And you try to answer with grace.
But what you really want to say is — “I’m standing in a sacred place you may never understand.”
I usually keep it simple now.
“We’re fostering. It’s hard. It’s good. It’s worth it.”
Because trying to explain trauma, attachment, court systems, and bedtime routines to someone who’s never lived it?
That’s like describing color to someone who’s only seen black and white.
So I stop trying to justify.
And I just witness.
I tell the truth in love.
I model what commitment looks like.
And I let my presence do the preaching.
Because sometimes, being a man in the gap means standing quietly… while the world watches and wonders why you haven’t walked away.
