There are two live issues being played out following the Alaska summit and the ensemble meeting at the White House. First, Trump's determination that there should be a trilateral meeting with Zelensky, Putin and himself. And Second, that there should be some commitment around a security guarantee that would aim to prevent war from simply restarting soon in the future. All the players are seeking to navigate these to best effect, while all the time having to deal with the unguided missile at the centre of everything - President Trump. But the three-way meeting is being resisted hard by Putin, while pretending to be open for it. And the security guarantee - well, everyone right now is pretending it's real.
