In celebration of this month's World Mental Health Day, I spoke with Dr. Tomi Mitchell about mental health concerns, issues, her work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people globally.
Dr. Tomi Mitchell is a Physician and has a coaching business that focuses on the foundation of health and success in life which is Mental Health and Wellness.
Our increased self-awareness and sensitivity to it have altered the course of events. Our language surrounding mental health has evolved as we have gained a greater understanding of how terms like "crazy" and "lunatic" may be inadvertently harmful and stigmatising. While we have made significant progress, there is still much more that we can do to grow as a culture.
The concept of the mind is abstract, and now allows us to reflect on our ideas. We're progressing beyond outdated views and eradicating the stigma associated with mental health in order to effectively diagnose and care for ourselves. When the stress and anxiety associated with mental health concerns are eliminated, the struggle becomes significantly easier.
As our understanding of mental health improves, our capacity to seek appropriate therapy improves as well. With the proper therapist and medicine, you may function at a higher level of efficiency. The more accepting we are of others and the more money invested in research and mental health treatment, the bigger the worldwide effect.
This serves as a reminder that you are not alone in your struggles. Too frequently, we believe that we are the only ones going through a difficult period. It's reassuring to know that others have been there and survived. It serves as a reminder that you are capable of overcoming your own sorrow.
To the entrepreneur struggling with anxious thoughts, I trust that this episode offers you encouragement, equips you with tools and support so you won't have to feel alone.
Be gentle with yourself and be bold to take the courageous move to seek support when you need it.
