Welcome to Day 39 of the Pentecast on LOVECHURCH — The Podcast. Today, Tim is joined by Steve Hynde for his final episode in the series, as they focus on the church in Antioch — a model community of courage, leadership, and global mission.

Reading from Acts 11:19–30 and 13:1–3 (with a glance at Acts 14:21–28), we’re reminded that Antioch emerged in the wake of Stephen’s martyrdom and the widespread persecution of early Christians. What man meant for harm, God used for the spread of the gospel. From this place of pressure, a powerhouse church was born — one known for its depth of teaching, prophetic ministry, generosity, and missional focus.

Tim reflects on how this vibrant church earned the name “Christian” — little Christs — because they looked and acted like Jesus, even under intense pressure. Steve highlights how hardship forged strength, not just in Antioch, but in faithful believers throughout history. The conversation reminds us that comfort often dulls the church’s edge, but adversity can sharpen it.

There’s a challenge here too: are we living with the Antioch mindset today? Are we raising leaders, sending people out, and standing strong together in both worship and witness?

Join them in asking God to shape our churches with the same grit, grace and gospel-hearted vision as Antioch. See you tomorrow for Day 40.
