Welcome to Day 38 of the Pentecast on LOVECHURCH — The Podcast. Today, Tim is joined again by Ella Jenkinson as they dive into a truly radical turning point in the early church: the story of Cornelius and Peter in Acts chapter 10.

In a society defined by rigid cultural and religious boundaries, God breaks through. Cornelius, a Roman centurion, receives a vision to send for Peter. Meanwhile, Peter is given his own vision — a sheet descending from heaven full of ‘unclean’ animals — and a divine challenge not just to his diet, but to his deeply ingrained worldview. The result? Peter crosses a boundary he never imagined he would. He preaches the gospel to Cornelius and his household, and as he speaks, the Holy Spirit falls on everyone who hears.

This moment marks the unmistakable inclusion of the Gentiles — an idea so shocking at the time it’s almost hard for us to grasp now. Ella reflects on how we still live in a society layered with division — and how the church is called to be a place that slices through those layers with grace and welcome.

If you're someone who feels like you're on the outside, this story is your invitation in. If you’re on the inside, it's your call to break down barriers and welcome others radically and intentionally.

Join them in praying for a church that reflects heaven’s diversity. See you tomorrow for Day 39.
