It’s day 17 of our daily Pentecast on LOVECHURCH — The Podcast. Today’s guest is Festus Adedoyin, back with Tim Matthews to unpack the dramatic, courageous and deeply inspiring story of Esther.
Set during Israel’s exile, the book of Esther deals with weighty themes — oppression, racism, injustice — yet right in the middle stands a teenage girl turned queen who risks everything for her people. Tim and Festus reflect on Esther’s bravery and her deep understanding of identity: she’s favoured, loved, chosen — and so are we. Festus puts it beautifully: when we know who we are in God, we’re empowered to speak truth and bring deliverance in our own time, to our own generation.
Their prayer is for courage and clarity — that we, like Esther, would step up for such a time as this. We’re not called to shrink back but to walk in God’s favour, knowing who we are and whose we are. See you tomorrow for Day 18!
