This week we have the gift of learning from Claudine Miles. Claudine is a consultant and educator who has experience working with, Atlanta Public Schools, Teach for America, the CDC, and more. Additionally, she is the co-founder of Restore More, a local to Atlanta organization that supports others with building capacity for restorative practices, self-awareness, & social-emotional learning. In this episode, we cover how to talk to kids about race and racism. Claudine shares a fresh perspective that gives us practical advice and challenges our ways of thinking and doing. Listen up for these three things: Dwayne White, the word ‘colorblind’, and the white dads. This episode shows how bias is not inherently a bad thing, but learning what to do with your bias and how to grow from it is vital. Additionally, Miles emphasizes the importance of getting kids involved with a diverse community early on.
